Acapulco Gold

First registered in the United States in 1964, Acapulco Gold was defined the following year by the Oxford English Dictionary as "a special grade of cannabis growing in the vicinity of Acapulco...with a color of 'brownish gold, or a mixture of gold and green.' Traditionally grown in the Guerrero mountains outside the city, it is a landrace variety described as having "stunning effects", attributed to a long season growth and the plant growing in conditions to which it was adapted.

Acapulco Gold (sometimes called Mexican Sativa) has a history rich in rumors and legends. While some sources claim that Acapulco Gold is a cross between a Mexican sativa and Afghan landraces, a majority believe that it is a strain native to the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains that surround the city of Acapulco. Legend has it that the strain developed its unique physical characteristics, aromas, flavors and cannabinoid concentrations over centuries, adapting to the conditions of the Sierra Madre del Sur mountain range (home to tropical forests dry, pine and oak forests, as well as numerous endemic plant and animal species).

Long considered the favorite strain of 60s and 70s hippies, Acapulco Gold was even mentioned in Cheech and Chong's 1978 classic Up In Smoke.

  • Morphology:

Acapulco Gold is a strain that will develop a large and fabulous cannabis plant, with a resistant structure, easy to grow and which will produce abundant thick and resinous buds. Its numerous branches will be covered with clusters of golden color and magnificent reddish hues. Although her flowering time may be a little longer, she will reward growers with generous, quality harvests. Sativa characteristics can also be seen in the appearance of the plant, which is taller and slimmer with thin, pointed leaves.

    Production:

As a sativa, Acapulco Gold produces large buds covered in sticky trichomes and golden hairs. It is claimed that this plant can grow up to six feet tall, but ours has always remained around three feet tall due to lack of vegetative time and growing constraints. When grown indoors, buds flower in approximately 70 to 75 days, producing an average of 16 ounces per square meter.

    Aromas and flavors:

With aromas of earthy, sweet and woody notes, it will fill your grow tent with joy and accompanied by an incomparable taste. Overall, if you like sweet and spicy strains, Acapulco Gold strain seeds are for you.

    Effects:

The effect of this cannabis strain is a pleasant sensation combining euphoria and an incredible feeling of lasting body relaxation. Acapulco Gold is also known for giving the strongest Sativa effects, with users reporting that it keeps them focused and energized.

    Culture:

Acapulco Gold is ideal for indoor growing with an average duration and flowering period of 9-11 weeks. It is not recommended outdoors because it needs a tropical climate given its Sativa predominance.
